Oni Craft is a small shop: Erik runs it, and a handful of carefully chosen services help. This page says which personal data we use, why, who else handles it, how long we keep it and what you can ask of us. The short version: we use what we need to deliver your knife, we only measure your visit if you say yes, and we never sell data.

Who is responsible

Oni Craft, Pijnackerplein 25, 3035 GD Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Chamber of Commerce (KvK) 73907871. Questions and requests: sales@onicraft.online. Oni Craft is the controller for the data on this page.

When you order

We ask for your name, email address, delivery address, postcode, city and country, and optionally a phone number and a note. We also keep what you ordered, the amount and whether the payment went through.

  • We use this to deliver your order, send the confirmation and updates, and handle returns and guarantee claims. That is necessary to carry out our agreement with you (GDPR article 6(1)(b)).
  • You pay on the payment page of Mollie (Mollie B.V., Amsterdam). We never see your bank or card details; Mollie only tells us whether the payment succeeded. For the payment itself Mollie is responsible under its own privacy statement.
  • Your name and address go on the parcel and to the postal or courier service that delivers it.
  • When an order comes in, Erik gets a notification on his phone through Telegram with the details needed to ship it: what you ordered, your name, email address, delivery address and phone number.
  • Order records and invoices are kept for 7 years, because Dutch tax law requires it (article 6(1)(c)).

Emails from us

After you order, we send you a few emails about your knife: how to look after it, a question about how it's doing, a knife that goes with it, and after about six months a reminder to sharpen it. We tell you this when you order, and every email lets you stop them with one click. We do this because you're a customer and the emails are about the knives you bought (legitimate interest, article 6(1)(f)).

If a payment isn't completed, we email you once about that order. If you ticked "Send me care tips and new blades", we may send one more reminder the next day.

If you sign up at the bottom of a page, or tick "Send me care tips and new blades" when you order, we also send you care tips and news about new blades, a few times a year (consent, article 6(1)(a)). A sign-up on the website only starts after you confirm it from the email we send you.

  • We keep your email address, your first name if we have it, when and how you agreed, and which emails we sent.
  • We count clicks on links in our emails, to see which emails are useful. We don't track whether you open them.
  • Every email has a link to unsubscribe with one click; replying "unsubscribe" works too. After that we keep only your address and the fact that you unsubscribed, so we never email you again. Ask us to delete everything, and we will.

Reviews

After your order, our email has a personal link to review your knife. If you write one, we publish your rating, your text and the name you choose (we suggest your first name and initial) on the page of that knife. We keep it linked to your order number, so we know it comes from a buyer; your order number and email are never shown. Ask us and we take your review down.

When you email us

We use your email address and message to answer you, and keep the conversation as long as it's useful for follow-up questions, returns or the guarantee.

Shops we contact

Oni Craft offers its knives to kitchen shops. For that we use business contact details that shops publish themselves: shop name, general email address, website and city (legitimate interest, article 6(1)(f)). Every email says how to opt out; after that we don't contact the shop again and keep only what we need to respect that. An AI assistant (Anthropic's Claude) helps us write these emails and sort the replies. Answers to questions from shops are checked by Erik before they go out.

Your visit to this website

  • Server log. Like every website, ours notes each request: the page, the time, your browser type, the site you came from and your IP address. The last part of the IP address is removed before anything is written down, so we can count visits without knowing who you are. The log is kept for 7 days and uses no cookies. We use it to keep the site safe, find broken pages and see how the site is used (legitimate interest).
  • What your browser stores for the shop. Your cart (oni-cart-v1) and your cookie choice (oni-toestemming) are kept in your own browser. They are needed for what you ask for, so they need no consent.

Measuring with outside services happens only if you allow it in the cookie banner:

  • Google Analytics (Google Ireland Ltd) — only if you tick "Measure how the site is used". It sets the cookies _ga and _ga_… (kept up to 2 years) and records which pages and knives you look at, your cart and checkout steps, and purchases with order number and amount. Never your name, email address or address. Google keeps this for 14 months.
  • Google Ads — only if you tick "Measure whether ads work": whether a click on one of our ads led to a purchase, with order number and amount.
  • Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms Ireland) — only if you tick "Measure whether ads work": whether an ad on Facebook or Instagram led to a visit or a purchase.

You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing consent doesn't affect what was measured before.

Who else handles data

We never sell data. These services handle it on our behalf, only for the purposes above:

  • IONOS (IONOS SE) — the server this website and our shop run on, in Frankfurt, Germany.
  • Hostnet (Hostnet B.V., the Netherlands) — our email.
  • Mollie — payments (see above).
  • Telegram — order notifications to Erik's phone.
  • Anthropic — the AI assistant for emails with shops.
  • Google — a daily backup copy of our order records is stored in our Gmail account, so no order gets lost if the server fails; and, only with your consent, Google Analytics.

Some of these companies are based in, or process data in, the United States. For those transfers we rely on the safeguards they provide, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the data we have about you (access), to correct or delete it, to limit what we do with it, or to give it to you in a form you can take elsewhere. You can object to use based on our legitimate interest, and withdraw consent at any time. Email sales@onicraft.online; we answer within a month. Some data we must keep by law, such as invoices; we'll tell you if that applies.
